About 80% of Singaporeans live in Housing Development Board (HDB) flats which are stacked on top of one another, separated by only the thickness of the surrounding walls and ceilings. This living condition in Singapore has vitally constraint the boundaries of privacy for every residents, causing restrictions to residents to perform their daily activities even within their house. This series of photographs revolve around the ideology of panopticism and voyeurism. I intend to express the state of in-between-ness, security and vulnerability and, fiction and reality to show a glimpse of the lives of Singaporeans in a state of being monitored unconsciously. In each photographs, I have fused the voyeristic technique with stage documentary elements to create an enigmatic vibe that evokes a sense of uneasiness and insecureness amongst viewers.
