Rochor Centre is known to be a lively estate with an abundant of tourists visiting. Its tall and brightly coloured blocks had always been an iconic sight in Singapore. Built in 1977, it is currently standing amongst various shopping district along one of the hectic roads in Singapore. Recently, it was announced that it’ll be soon demolished by the authorities to make way for future development. Tenants and residents who have resided over there for decades will be shifted to a new place and most had already bid their final farewell to the nostalgic place. In this series, I’ve intended to document the vast emptiness of the space and how desolated it is presently. Through these photos, I would like to reveal the unforeseen transformation of the environment and community which is no longer vibrant on the inside. These series of images also reflect the emotions of the residents who have lost a big part of them. For now, it remains significantly in their hearts.
