Serious cases of violence, racism and citizens being homeless happen every single day in most parts of the world but this is an issue that fellow Singaporeans do not discuss intensively. This series depicts portraits concerning some of the major issues that are happening around the world today. This series is meant to evoke a sense of uncertainty towards the current situation in Singapore and to ignite a discussion about the possibilities of it happening. The immediacy of eye contact that these photos convey serve both a cry for help and a call of action, imploring the viewers to confront the realities that people around the world are facing. The colour tones ofthese photographs are tuned specifically to set a certain mood for the viewers. In this series, I’ve used street and ambient lights as it helped to illuminate the scene and create a warm natural effect. Inspired by Jeff Krol and Gregory Crewdson, I intend to combine both documentary and cinematic street photography style to further blur the lines between reality and fiction.
